R.B.Stevenson Gallery is pleased to announce the exhibition Here and There new paintings and ceramics by San Diego artist Geoffroy Tobé.
We cordially invite you to see the exhibition through November 8, 2025
This is a unique opportunity to meet the artist and gain insights into his creative process.
In Geoffroy Tobé's second solo show at the gallery, paintings from the studio, observational studies, ceramics, and a lithograph, come together like fragments of a visual conversation. They speak in different vocabularies, but share the same roots: shape, color, mark, and a desire to hold space between chaos and control. He follows intuition more than strategy, sometimes working from life, sometimes from memory, or from a sense of place — travels to Japan, the Mediterranean light of his origins, the shifting forms of modernist architecture.
The work borrows freely — from abstraction, figuration, cubism, expressionism — but always returns to the structure of solid composition. Each medium invites a different tempo; ceramics and lithography slow things down, small observational paintings sharpen perception, large canvases allow for physical gesture, layers, ambiguity. Geoffroy Tobé moves between them like shifting planes in a collage; how one thing leans toward the next, how contour meets wash, how stillness balances intensity. This show gathers those moments, here and there.
