Get Paired with a Business for La Jolla First Friday Art Walk
SDAD is partnering with the La Jolla Village Merchants Association to create new opportunities for local artists during the monthly First Friday Art Walk.
This is a simple idea with real impact: we match artists with local businesses that want to be part of the Art Walk. Instead of only galleries showing work, we open up shops, offices, and unexpected spaces across the village. More places. More visibility. More chances to be seen.
What This Opportunity Is
The First Friday Art Walk is a free, monthly event that brings consistent foot traffic through La Jolla Village. Visitors walk between galleries, museums, and businesses using a shared map, stopping in along the way.
Through this collaboration, artists can:
- Build relationships with local businesses
- Show work outside of traditional gallery systems
- Reach new collectors and clients
How It Works
- You fill out a short interest form

- Your information is shared with LJVMA and participating businesses
- Businesses reach out directly to artists they want to host
That’s it. No gatekeeping committee. No complicated process. Just visibility and connection.
What to Expect
- This is a free opportunity
- It happens monthly, every first Friday from 4-7 PM
- Each placement is directly negotiated between you and the business
- Artists are responsible for their own display and must maintain at least 48″ pedestrian clearance
- Small works, prints, merch, books, records, and other goods are welcome
