Description

"Wandering in the Watershed" is a solo exhibit by local artist Laura Green at the Poway Library.

July 1- Aug 30, 2025

Laura Green is an acrylic painter focusing on the diverse ecosystem of the San Diego area. "Being in nature during chaotic times helps reduce stress and helps me to feel a part of something, instead of isolated and alone," says Green.

California has only 10% of wetlands left in their undeveloped state. These critical regions are important stop overs for migrating birds and especially vulnerable to pollution and habitat loss.

The exhibit "Wandering in the Watershed" draws attention to the riparian ecosystems of San Diego by featuring figures on a journey following a river from the mountains to the sea. San Diego has 11 major river systems, one of which is the San Diego River which begins near Julian and flows to its outlet in Ocean Beach.

Many unique animals and plants are represented alongside the human figures in an impressionistic style which alludes to the tenuous existence we have with nature. Green hopes viewers will be inspired to learn more about their own backyard and support the local organizations to conserve these fragile regions.
