THE PIANO PROJECT CALL FOR ART
Description
UNIQUE ARTIST OPPORTUNITY
from OCAF & the BROOKS THEATER GALLERY
THE PIANO PROJECT
The Oceanside Cultural Arts Foundation (OCAF) has gifted the Oceanside Theatre Company (OTC) with “Miss Mary”, an excellent upright piano for the lobby of the Sunshine Brooks Theater. This is only one of numerous pianos being placed throughout the City as live public art, giving people easy access to a piano to play for themselves or others.
OCAF’s donation to OTC includes an Artist commission, transportation of the piano to the artist’s studio and then to the theater, installation of wheels for easy handling, and piano tuning.
Send images of your sketches and designs to: cnaegele@oceansidetheatre.org by February 21st at 5 pm. Late entries will not be considered. The top three candidates will present their final proposals to OCAF representative Robert Parker and Brooks Theater Gallery curator Carol Naegele on Tuesday, February 25 at 11 am at the Brooks Theater.
The selected artist will have 6 weeks to complete the project, due on April 8th. The grand unveiling of “Miss Mary” will take place at the Brooks Theater on May 9th at 6:30 pm, with Robert Parker sharing his musical talent during the Gallery’s Artist Open House. The event is free and everyone is welcome, including children.
