"Feathers and Foliage" is a solo exhibit by local artist Laura Green at Ashton Art Gallery at Art on 30th in North Park.
July 18- Aug 15, 2025
Reception July 26th TBA
Laura Green is an acrylic painter focusing on the diverse ecosystem of the San Diego area. "Being in nature during chaotic times helps reduce stress and helps me to feel a part of something, instead of isolated and alone," says Green. Many people know beaches and nice weather, but San Diego County has been designated as one of the most biodiverse counties in the United States. The county includes coastal wetlands, oak woodlands and desert which includes many of the unique and endemic species that are threatened by climate change, pollution and habitat loss.
The exhibit "Feathers and Foliage" draws attention to the unique and beautiful birds and plants that can be seen from many of the local nature areas, such as Tijuana River estuary or Mission Trails Regional park, or in the desert in Anza Borrego. By using apps such as iNaturalist and eBird, amateur nature lovers can connect with and identify local species, and even take part in species counts sponsored by San Diego Bird Alliance and others.
