Athenaeum Art Center
Description
In 2016, the Athenaeum Music & Arts Library expanded its offering to a second location, the Athenaeum Art Center (AAC). Located in the community of Logan Heights, the Athenaeum Art Center resides within the Bread & Salt building, an old bread factory that has been converted into an experimental art space.Â
With over 5,000 square feet of newly renovated space, the Athenaeum Art Center has four exhibition spaces, an event space, a fully equipped print studio, a kiln, and art studio. From its inception, the AAC has made art accessibility a priority and in doing so, the Art Center offers a unique set of bilingual programming that includes the exhibition of national and international artists, music concerts showcasing the distinct sounds of our binational region, participation in community festivities, free afterschool art programs, art workshops, visual arts and music programming at local school sites, art classes through the Athenaeum School of the Arts and a variety of unique experiences in collaboration with local art and community organizations.
The Athenaeum Art Center gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and every second Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m., during the Barrio Art Crawl, a self-guided art tour throughout the neighborhood’s vibrant art scene, as well as by appointment. Please browse the Athenaeum’s calendar page for information on upcoming events.
