ARTIST TALK: Fire of the Soul by Ty Bennett

Ty Bennett is a self-taught visionary artist whose intuitive-surrealist style is expressed through obsessive detail, density of imagery, and a vivid color palette. His paintings transform the unconscious into super-consciousness in the belief that art can transform the evil and suffering that is taking over the world by accessing the higher Self. His recent work is a response to a period of deep reflection after a devastating wildfire in Colorado that destroyed all his possessions including his art, as well as the additional burden of the loss of his parents. Painting with acrylic, oil, and house paint he combines words, abstraction, and figurative images, in an interplay on substrates of canvas, Masonite, wood, and repurposed cardboard.
