About the project:
Living Proof Stories and SDAD invite you to submit original stories, poems, or spoken word pieces in response to the “Seen and Whole“ visual art exhibit. Hosted at the Congregational Church of La Jolla, this powerful contemporary art exhibition features LGBTQ+ artists exploring themes of mattering, inclusivity, and mental wellness.
Living Proof Stories will provide free, professional writing and performance coaching to all selected participants. Writers will perform their pieces at the Living Proof Stories Showcase on August 14.
Whether you are an experienced writer or a first-time storyteller, we want to hear your perspective. No prior performance experience is required.
About the hosting business:
Submission Guidelines
- Inspiration: Your piece must respond to or be inspired by any artwork in the “Seen and Whole” exhibit (see images below)
- Length: Materials must take under 10 minutes to perform aloud.
- Genre: All genres are welcome, including personal essays, poetry, fiction, or spoken word.
- Eligibility: Open to all LGBTQ+ individuals and allies who want to share their voice. Must reside in San Diego County
