Sara Wilczynska is a watercolor artist and illustrator based in San Diego. She founded Swil Arts studio after almost a decade in software engineering at Google, choosing a slower, more intentional creative practice. Her work centers on the small, often overlooked moments that hold memory and place.
She works with fountain pen and watercolor, blending loose ink lines with fluid, sun washed washes. Architecture, everyday objects, neighborhood corners, and bits of coastal life show up often in her pieces. She paints them with a light hand so the scene stays human and familiar.
Her practice is grounded in presence and care. Every piece is made slowly, in small batches, with attention to materials and environmental impact. Her work carries the warmth of Southern California, giving viewers a quiet pause and a sense of home.
Her paintings have been selected for international online group exhibitions and shown in San Diego galleries such as Art Scene West and The Studio Door. She was part of the first San Diego Artist Incubator program, and her work has received coverage in local arts and culture outlets.
She collaborates with retail and hospitality brands on merchandise and custom illustration, including commissioned work for La Valencia hotel in La Jolla. Her collections include original paintings, fine art prints, stationery, and home goods available through her shop and select Southern California retailers.
